The setting, Wi-Fi Assist, is helpful when you’re in need of an internet connection – as your mobile data automatically flicks on to help when the Wi-Fi connection is low.

However, it also eats away at battery power – so switching it off is a good idea at times, too.

To see if your phone has the mode on, go to your settings and click on the Mobile Data tab.

If you scroll right to the bottom of that section you’ll see Wi-Fi- Assist, and the toggle.

Switch it across to turn the battery-draining setting off.

Apple also offers other advice on how to extend your phone’s power.

The tech giant says: “There are two simple ways you can preserve battery life — no matter how you use your device: adjust your screen brightness and use Wi‑Fi.

“When you use your device to access data, a Wi‑Fi connection uses less power than a mobile network — so keep Wi‑Fi on at all times.

“To turn on Wi‑Fi, go to Settings > Wi‑Fi to access a Wi‑Fi network.”

To dim your phone’s screen brightness, swipe down from the right-hand corner of your screen.

From there you can lower the brightness.

Tech experts often offer advice on how to save your phone’s battery life.

Smartphone users were recently warned about two common apps that can slow their devices down.

Another expert said there’s one nifty setting that can prolong the life of your handset.

It was also recently revealed the place where you live might be partly to blame for your bad iPhone battery life.

People also often give advice – with one man saying it can take just 10 seconds to improve your phone’s power.
