‘All you need is a phone’: Woman’s ‘easy’ money making tip earns her £1,200 every year | Personal Finance | Finance
One woman has shared how making a little effort last year has really made a difference to her finances. It’s so easy that anyone can do it.
When it comes to making extra money one thing that everyone can do is have a look around their home for unwanted Christmas presents and clothes they no longer wear.
Decluttering is not only good for the soul, it can also be great for people’s finances with experts agreeing that it is one of the easiest ways to make an extra £1,000.
Entrepreneur Clare Willets realised the full potential of selling her unwanted items on sites like Facebook Marketplace last year when funds were a little bit tight because she was setting up her business Not only pink and blue.
In an exclusive interview she told Express.co.uk: “I did a big sort out and realised that a lot of my things were of really good quality, so I tried a car boot sale but getting up early and queuing in the rain wasn’t my cup of tea!”

To make £1,200 like Clare, people will need to invest a bit of time but it can be done if Britons have just one hour to spare in the evening.
Clare said she enjoys it and has even been surprised by some of the things people are willing to buy.
“You would be surprised what people are looking for – I even sold a bath tap once when we did up our bathroom.
“So before you throw things out, think about if anyone might want them. You can also put things on for free so before you head to the dump, try listing it first.”
Clare is CEO and Founder of notonlypinkandblue.com which is challenging stereotypes of children from birth.
Decluttering and selling unwanted items is a money making tip recommended by experts like Thomas Allder, Customer Director at Vanquis.
He said: “The New Year is the perfect time to have a clear out of anything you no longer use or wear.
“This way, you’ll be able to declutter your home and earn a little extra cash on things you sell.
“Whether it’s clothes, homeware, unwanted Christmas presents, your old laptop, TV, games or books.
“If you think something could be useful to someone else, check the going rate for similar items and put it on a marketplace site like eBay, Facebook Marketplace or GumTree.
