Audi R8 Coupé V10 GT RWD: limited and the most powerful

Where the original R8 GT was a four-wheel drive, the R8 V10 GT RWD – as the name suggests – is a rear-wheel drive. With a boosted version of the 5.2-litre V10 on board to 620 hp, the new GT is just as powerful as the current all-wheel drive V10 Performance, the most powerful R8 to date. Audi speaks of a new dual-clutch gearbox with shorter ratios and shift times to transfer the power to the rear wheels.

This means that the R8 V10 GT RWD is able to accelerate from 0 to 100 and 0 to 200 km/h within 3.4 and 10.1 seconds, respectively. With a speed of 320 km/h, the top is a bit lower than that of the V10 Performance Quattro, which is the result of the adjusted gearbox ratios. Through a number of weight-saving adjustments, Audi managed to make this version 20 kg lighter than the 570 hp R8 V10 Performance RWD. This brings the car weight (including liquids) to 1,570 kg.

This is mainly due to the lightweight 20-inch wheels specially designed for this version, which, together with ceramic brakes, are part of the standard equipment of the R8 V10 GT RWD. In addition to those wheels, you can recognize the new top version with black (GT) badges, black valve covers and the standard ‘aerokit’ of carbon fiber.

The 10-spoke lightweight wheels with a diameter of 20 inches, which are unique for the new GT.

Also reserved for the new GT is the ‘Torque Rear’ driving mode, in which the driver can set the R8’s ESC system in seven different positions, allowing progressively more sideways fun. Together with the optional extra sporty tuned suspension, that system should make this the most fun R8 to drive on the track. There, shell seats with red belts reserved for the GT ensure that you remain seated.

If that sounds like music to your ears, then you should leave €225,000 (excluding taxes) at the Audi dealer. You will receive an individually numbered copy of the R8 V10 GT RWD for this in 2023, in one of the three GT colors: matte gray (as in the photos), gray or red.
