‘Dating should be fun’ Woman who found love on Bumble then landed job shares advice

Bumble is one of the top dating apps to choose from, and Express.co.uk spoke to Naomi Walkland, the VP in Marketing for Europe at Bumble.

Naomi said: “He was my first Bumble match and my first Bumble date!”

Fast forward to today and they have now been happily married for two years, this December will make it three.

Not long after, Naomi began consulting and Bumble was one of her clients. She saw a vacancy for a role and applied as she was “really passionate about the mission and the values”.

The year she joined the company was the same year she got married. She said: “Knowing what Bumble did for my own life and other people that I know, made me want to be a part of that journey.”

So what are Naomi’s tips for finding love on dating apps?

Most importantly, “dating should be fun” don’t put any pressure on yourself to find the perfect person just “enjoy it”.

When selecting profile pics, Naomi encourages picking “a variety of photos that showcase different aspects of your personality”.

She added: “This is a great way to spark conversation.”

The right photos help to attract the right people. Naomi recommends that “if you’re the outdoorsy type choose a picture of you on a walk or for example if you’re an animal lover show a picture of you with a puppy”.

People can easily see if there are similarities and common interests between the two of you.

Now for the crucial part – the all-important bio – Naomi explained that what attracted her to Richard was that he was very clear about the type of woman he wanted, and he even listed those qualities.

If you’re serious about finding someone then Naomi advises to “really know what you’re looking for” and “be clear on what your intentions are”.

This will help maximise more meaningful matches and minimise wasting each others time.

Naomi knew that she had the qualities her husband had mentioned on his bio, and it reassured her to know that they would be a good match. When in doubt, she suggests asking a friend for help since “sometimes we can be our own worst critics” and they see strengths that you may overlook.

Bumble was a game changer on the dating app scene as it requires women to message first. This may be daunting for some but for others the fact that women always make the first move is quite literally a power move.

Naomi said: “I loved making the first move, I felt so empowered.”
