Certain venues will now require patrons to show proof of being fully vaccinated as well as changes to international travel quarantine rules that have already been put in place. Higher risk settings such as nightclubs and large events, where many people are packed into a space, will require a Covid passport to be allowed entry.

Currently, this is not a legal requirement, so proof is not necessarily needed for entry – but that’s going to change in September.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson now said he plans “to make full vaccination the condition of entry to nightclubs and other venues where large crowds gather”, by the end of September.

By this point, all 18-year-olds in England will have had the chance to be fully vaccinated.

The Prime Minister has said 35 percent of 18-30 year olds were currently completely unvaccinated.

Sir Patrick Vallance, chief scientific advisor to the Government, has said nightclubs can potentially be super spreading events, and cases of this happening have already happened in the Netherlands and Israel.

What will the pass allow me to do?

So far, the NHS Covid pass will allow fully vaccinated adults to dodge quarantine when returning from amber list countries.

However they will still be subject to testing rules.

From August 16, in England fully vaccinated adults will no longer be required to self isolate if a close contact tests positive for Covid-19.

The rules around high risk venues such as nightclubs and large events will likely be introduced in September.
