iOS : Activate Siri via the ‘Hey Siri’ command

From iOS 8 we can use Siri more or less in Dutch, the ‘dictation’ function finally supports the Dutch language, but we still have to wait for a Dutch and Flemish variant of Siri.

Siri has been available in Dutch since 2015! How to dictate in Dutch, you can read it in this tip on appletips.

If you do use Siri in English or another language, a fantastic new function has been added that makes it much easier to use. You can access Siri via the command ‘Hey Siri’. There are some conditions attached to this command, for example, your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch must be connected to your adapter via the USB cable. In short, it must be ‘charging’, because your iDevice is constantly ‘listening’.

First you need to activate this new feature via Settings General ▸ Siri. Enable the ‘Allow ‘Hey Siri’ option here.

If your iDevice is connected via the adapter, you can say the command ‘Hey Siri’. Your iDevice will recognize this and activate Siri, immediately you can say a command, for example ‘Call Tim Cook’. If you want to communicate with Siri in this way, you always have to say ‘Hey Siri’ for every command, unless Siri asks you a question.

From the iPhone 6s (Plus) it is always possible to use Hey Siri, how to read here.
