There are plenty of floor-sweeping robots on the market, but most models require frequent maintenance like ordinary vacuum cleaners. While that doesn’t mean you can’t buy any self-emptying and self-sterilizing robot vacuums out there, they definitely will give you sticker shocks.
Autonomous cleaners have existed for a while now, but they haven’t taken over the consumer market yet due to how much they cost. However, the Roidmi EVE Plus has the potential to change that, and it might just be one of the best robot vacuums for the value-driven consumers out there.
Founded in 2015, Roidmi secured its footing in the market of home automotive products pretty quickly, thanks to Xiaomi’s financial backing and mass-market reach. The EVE Plus is the company’s first robot vacuum, even though it isn’t the first from Xiaomi. In fact, popular options like the Mi Robot Vacuum-Mop P is already built under the tech giant’s supervision. However, Roidmi EVE Plus is the first to deliver comparable features and built quality at an attractive price point.
Designed to do one of the most tiring household tasks, the Roidmi EVE Plus seems to be on par with robot vacuum models from established brands like Dyson, iRobot, Eufy, and LG. But the real question is whether it’s any good compared to its expensive counterparts. This comprehensive review of the Xiaomi Roidmi EVE Plus has the answer.

What’s in the Box?
Here are all the accessories you get with the Roidmi EVE Plus and the station:
- Interchangeable mopping wipes
- A reusable microfiber cloth
- Extra dust bags for the station
- A replacement HEPA filter for the vacuum
- User manual
The stuff in the box should help you get the EVE Plus up and running in no time and last for a good two years or so before you need to buy new mopping wipes and dust bags from third-party marketplaces.
Design & Build Quality
The Roidmi EVE Plus has a classy all-white exterior, with piano-black touch controls on both the robot vacuum and its station. The protruding bump on top of the vacuum has orange accents running along the sides. It also houses 30+ sensors the device uses for navigation and mapping purposes. More on that later.
At the bottom side of the vacuum, you will find the main brush, two extra rotating brushes, the mopping attachment, and three wheels that steer the vacuum across the room. The four combs coming out of the rotating brushes are responsible for sweeping the dust from the edges. There also are thick rubber strips running along the front and sides of the Roidmi EVE Plus vacuum, which protects it against damage from collisions with furniture.
The station itself comes with a 3-liter dust bag. According to Roidmi, the bag can hold dust and small debris of approximately 250 square meters before you need to empty it. The station conveniently reminds you about it with an audible alarm and gives you a visual indication on the LED touchscreen. The station screen also displays the estimated time for dust collections and charging status.
Plastic is used throughout the robot vacuum and station, but the overall build quality is pretty solid in our book. There’s nothing really new about the Roidmi EVE Plus as far as designs go, but its minimal and elegant looks leave good impressions nonetheless.
Features & Functions
As we just mentioned, there are 30+ sensors installed on the top and sides of the robot vacuum, capable of mapping up to 250 square meters of area and making it perfectly aware of its surroundings. Plus, users can control the robot manually from the mobile app.
In our testing, we found the Roidmi EVE Plus exceeding our initial expectations. We intentionally spread various types of dust, dirt, and small debris across the room (both the flooring and carpet) to see whether it can sweep all of it thoroughly. Much to our surprise, the combination of 2700 Pa suction power and the IR sensors of the vacuum was more than enough to clean the entire room in just five minutes– and that’s without bumping into any sort of obstacles.
In case you are wondering, we also tried the EVE Plus’ ability to climb slopes of up to 20° and 2 cm threshold. The mopping function also works as expected, and the water-flow auto-adjusts depending on the surface. It’s worth noting that the robot vacuum uses a washable wiping cloth, but you can also use other disposable wipes.
When compared to similarly specced models from the competitors, the Roidmi EVE Plus certainly stands out in terms of vacuuming and mopping functions. Chances are you won’t feel the need to upgrade anytime soon after bringing it to your house.
Station & Docking Capabilities
When the 300 ml dust bin in the EVE Plus is full or the battery is low, the robot vacuum autonomously steers to its docking station. There, it empties the bin in less than half a minute, then goes back to the point where it was cleaning before.
This automatic interaction ensures that the user only has to empty the station’s bin once it reaches its maximum capacity of 3 liters. Depending on the size of your rooms, you may have to take out the bag once a week or two.
In case the suction supply of the station or the robot gets clogged, it alerts the user with an error message. Note that this is a problem with every other robot vacuums and not just this particular unit.
The best part of the station is its innovative self-sterilization system, which uses a HEPA filter to sterilize household parasites, dust mites, and toxic chemicals effectively. The feature is found in higher-end robot vacuums, but this is the first time we have seen this tech in a much cheaper product.
The 5,200 mAh battery pack in the Roidmi EVE Plus allows it to clean the floor for up to four hours. When it’s almost empty, the vacuum moves to the station and starts charging.
In our testing, the EVE Plus finished vacuuming an area of about 150 square meters, consuming about 80% of the battery at the maximum suction power. However, your mileage may vastly vary depending on the environment.
Smart App Controls
The Roidmi EVE Plus has a mobile (Android / iOS) app that you can use to control its various functions. We found the mapping pretty intuitive and satisfying, as the Roidmi Cleaner app shows the map generation in real-time.
Once it finishes the mapping process, it allows you to divide rooms by different names, colors, and assign no-go zones. Users can also manually define the frequency the vacuum should clean a particular room per week. Additionally, it’s possible to generate more than one room map.
The app also gives you additional controls for adjusting the suction power and mopping intensity, as well as toggling the LED screen on the robot and station on and off. Fortunately, the EVE Plus also supports firmware updates that you can perform within the app.
Note that the Google Assistant and Alexa voice controls work only when you use the Xiaomi Home app, which also requires you to create a Xiaomi account. At the time of writing, the Roidmi Cleaner app isn’t compatible with any of the following virtual assistants.
Verdict: Should You Buy the Roidmi EVE Plus?
The EVE Plus from Xiaomi’s partner brand Roidmi covers all the basics and checks most of the boxes, whether it’s the minimal design, powerful suction, effective cleaning functions, real-time mapping, self-sterilizing station, long-lasting battery, or the smart app controls. There really isn’t anything like it in its class and price range.
All in all, we are more than satisfied with the performance of the Xiaomi Roidmi EVE Plus. The suction itself is a bit on the noisier side, but it’s totally acceptable given how affordable the product is. It gets a solid recommendation from us to all housewives and husbands, working moms and dads, pregnant women, and pet owners out there, as well as every other clean freak that always wants to keep their floors spotless.
